Amanda Mikulas
Clinical Mental Health Intern, NC and SC
Amanda is pursuing a master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Grand Canyon University. She follows a systemic approach to therapy and believes that to understand people and their challenges, it is important to understand the systems and relationships they are a part of. Amanda believes that the therapeutic relationship should be one of authenticity, collaboration, and one that feels safe and supportive. She focuses on clients' strengths and resiliency. Striving to help clients find tools to cope with life's stressors, she pulls from cognitive behavioral therapy, existential, acceptance and commitment, and solution-focused approaches; she has also completed training in The Gottman Method for couples. Amanda hopes to help clients find more adaptive habits that lead to more meaningful and fulfilling lives. Amanda enjoys working with women and girls in all stages of life, couples, veterans, first responders, and military families.
Prior to her current academic endeavors, Amanda worked as a respiratory care provider and, after earning her master's degree in Education in 2016, served as a clinical education specialist. Amanda is also a veteran of the United States Army.
