Amy Murphy
Licensed Professional Counselor Associate, SC
About Amy
Amy is a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate at Balanced Wellness, providing counseling services under the clinical supervision of Dr. Theresa Roman, PsyD. She earned her Master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Liberty University and is passionate about helping adolescents and young adults navigate life's challenges with greater confidence and resilience.
Amy provides therapy both in person at the Okatie office and virtually throughout South Carolina. She believes that meaningful change occurs within a strong therapeutic relationship built on trust, authenticity, and collaboration. Her approach is warm, supportive, and client-centered, empowering individuals to identify their strengths, overcome obstacles, and create lasting, positive change.
Ideal Client
Amy enjoys working with teenagers, young adults, and individuals in the perinatal season of life who are seeking support, guidance, and personal growth.
She works with teenagers facing the emotional and social complexities of adolescence, including anxiety, depression, stress, self-esteem concerns, emotional regulation difficulties, and challenges related to school, family, or peer relationships.
Amy also has a passion for supporting young adults as they navigate identity development, life transitions, evolving relationships, career decisions, and the unique pressures that accompany emerging adulthood. In addition, she enjoys working with individuals during the perinatal period, helping them adjust to the emotional, relational, and personal changes that can arise during pregnancy and early parenthood.
Amy is committed to creating a safe, nonjudgmental space where clients feel understood, supported, and empowered to move toward their goals.
Therapeutic Approach
Amy believes that every client possesses unique strengths and the capacity for growth. Because no two individuals are alike, she tailors the counseling process to meet each client's specific needs, goals, and experiences.
Her therapeutic style integrates Person-Centered Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, and Strengths-Based interventions. Amy creates a supportive environment grounded in empathy, authenticity, and unconditional positive regard, allowing clients to feel heard, valued, and accepted.
Through a collaborative and goal-oriented approach, Amy helps clients identify practical solutions, build on existing strengths, and develop the skills needed to navigate life's challenges with greater confidence. Rather than focusing solely on problems, she works alongside clients to recognize their resilience, uncover new perspectives, and create meaningful progress toward lasting change.
Amy believes therapy should be both supportive and empowering—offering a space for healing, self-discovery, and personal growth while equipping clients with tools they can carry beyond the therapy room.
